Introduction

The Rinaldi Fontani Institute is a health care, research and training Institution in the field of epigenetic disorders and diseases.

But what is epigenetics?

Epigenetics studies the changes induced in our body by many environmental factors, such as our lifestyles, nutrition, substances with which we come into contact, type of work, chronic stress.

In recent years, the medicine is highlighting that most of the diseases are or may be induced or otherwise influenced by epigenetic alterations. Among these, tumors, neurodegenerative diseases, neurological development disorders, psychiatric disorders, diseases associated with aging (Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, senile dementia), alterations in metabolic control and chronic-degenerative diseases of different systems (cardio vascular, endocrine, immune and skeletal muscle).

The genes are located in precise positions within the DNA sequence and contain all the information necessary for the production of what is needed for a living organism.

Control of gene expression is vital to allow a cell to produce the gene products it needs when it needs them; in turn, this gives cells the flexibility to adapt to a variable environment, external signals, damage to the cell, etc.

Epigenetics teaches us that the gene expression can reveal itself in sickness or in health, in relation to several factors, which include all the interactions that our body has with the internal and external environment. Even modest changes are actually able to cause epigenetic changes responsible for the onset of diseases in the long term.

The epigenome (the set of epigenetic modifications occurring in the body) is determined at the end of embryonic development and then maintained throughout the individual's life. Throughout adult life, the epigenome can be subject to modifications that cause changes in the state of activation of genes. For example, in the case of tumors, the hypomethylation of an oncogene or the hypermethylation of a tumor suppressor gene give rise to activation of the first and to the silencing of the second, creating an imbalance that can result in the onset of a tumor.

An important aspect is that epigenetic changes, unlike genetic mutations, do not alter the structure of DNA and therefore are by their nature reversible.

The possibility of acting on the epigenetic modifications, and therefore on the modalities of expression of genes, is crucial also in diseases of genetic origin. Although we cannot act on genes carriers of the disease (or at least not yet, or not in a radical way), we can change the modalities by which these genes carriers are expressed. This means that there is no "genetic condemnation" and that we can do something to change the fate of DNA.

We can intervene by changing and correcting our lifestyle, but what can the medicine do in order to correct an epigenetic expression when altered or pathological? Definitely we need to think about new forms of therapy, but also personalized therapies based on the individual's genotype. In fact, we have to consider that the epigenome of each individual is extremely dynamic and can profoundly change during the whole life.

All this is the basis of the research and clinical application that the Rinaldi Fontani Institute has been developing for about 30 years.

This work led to the development of the Radio Electric Asymmetric Conveyer (REAC) Technology and a whole range of therapeutic protocols for Bio and Neuro modulation, aimed at the treatment and prevention of those disorders and diseases where epigenetic influence plays an important etiologic role.

Just by virtue of its intrinsic characteristics and its mechanism of action, the REAC technology allows personalized therapies for each patient, respecting the specific individuality of each epigenome and its great dynamism over time.

As yet no other form of medical therapy is able to have the same effect.

The REAC technology effects are well established and documented in numerous scientific papers published in prestigious scientific journals indexed in PubMed - FiveM.
